We have keyless entry and ignition also. It is a Limited after all. Keyless ignition doesn't matter AFAIK. We have every option except 4x4 and sunroof. The Ecoboost is an option over the V6 except for the one in the Sport.

I just purchased a used 2017 Escape to dolly tow. Besides hooking up tail & brake lights, is there anything I will need. And what recommendations as far as wiring harness does anyone want to make?

Hi JL,
There is nothing else you have to do to the car, in fact if tow dolly has lights you don't need to worry about wiring lights on Escape.
Does your tow dolly have brakes such as electric brakes or surge brakes? If not then I suggest you get electric brakes and install a brake controller in the rv.

It has brakes but not certain what type. Closing on my Newmar on Friday--Car dolly included in purchase. May need to purchase a spare tire for the dolly.
Still in major learning curve on all the systems for the MC.

Hi,
A spare tire is a good idea and I have mounted mine on the tongue of the dolly. Another good idea is to purchase a third wheel for the dolly as it makes pushing it around a lot easier.
As for the cable (which comes with dolly) connection which you will need on rv, it will be a 5 prong flat plug if dolly has electric brakes and a four pin flat plug if it has no brakes. Sometimes rvers use round plugs or the type that is on the motorhome.

Well I checked & the dolly has surge brakes. Also purchased a wireless magnetic light strip for the toad.

That's good news because my RV is a Ford motor. I am in the market for a new, lighter weight car with good air conditioning since I live in the desert southwest. A Ford has defiantly been on my mind.

I just added a Ford Edge as a Dinghy. You might want to check out the Dinghy Guide published by motorhome magazine

They list 14 Ford Models for 2018. Also the guide provides a lot of information with respect to tow bars, supplemental Brakes and other modifications that need to be considered. Good Luck and happy trails to you

My 03 Sport Trac 4x4 makes a great four down dingy. My research left me uncertain if the NTK applied to my vehicle. So, I made my own led light and had a local enable the 'neutral transfer' function via the OBD. To put the xfer case in neutral I hold the brake, key to run, shift to neutral. After 5 seconds the xfer case motor shifts to neutral and the NTK light goes on. Put key to off with steering unlocked and tow unrestricted. My 'NTK' cost me abt $10 and a couple weekends.

Tow switch
I had this on a 2011 Ranger, was under the impression that the computer had to be programed also. It worked grate, wish I had it back. gp scotty

THX for the info John. Hopefully it's reasonably priced. About a year ago, I searched the DIY info online and installed a DIY NTK on my 03 Sport trac for a couple of bucks (parts at Frys). I was really excited when I went thru the switching sequence and heard the elect-motor switch my transfer case and the LED lit up. Been towing the ST from IL to FL a couple years now and luv the ST toad. Regards
