Help: Invisibrake System on Nissan Versa

Good morning all,

Had the invisibrake installed by Camping World on my 2020 Versa and it is interfering with my instrument panel. All the idiot lights won't turn off.

I know others have used the invisibrake on this car so can anyone help me with possible resolutions with this.

The installers are saying the system is interfering with a controller board and that a possible solution is install a different braking system.

I think they may have connected something wrong but what do I know.

Appreciate any feedback you can provide.

I installed an Invisibrake myself on our 2013 Nissan Xterra - no problems with it. Now in a 2018 Wrangler and again no issues.

Can't help but believe it's an error on the part of the installer. Sounds like they may have tapped into something in the dash for power and caused the foul. Maybe a call/email to Roadmaster or Etrailer tech support for help.

So the idiot lights are coming on when in normal driving mode, not tow mode, correct? If you start the car without touching the brake pedal, do the idiot lights still come on? Did they install a brake light bypass switch or the brake light relay kit? Do the brake lights work in driving mode?

Parts list indicates Brake Light Relay Kit.

As soon as I start the car the idiot lights are on and won't go off. Car wasn't hooked up to the motorhome. I didn't drive the car off their lot. Went in immediately and told them to make it right.

At one point they mentioned using magnetic lights instead. What a (bad) joke.

OK, it is possible that the brake light relay kit is not wired correctly and it is not going back to normal driving mode. In other words, the brake lights are not working on your car when you push the brake pedal. I would start by confirming the brake light relay kit is working properly.

I mention this because on my CRV, if I push the brake pedal while in driving mode but with the brake light switch in tow mode, the dash lights up like a Christmas tree. The computer sees the cruise control switch working but at the same time doesn't see the brake light switch working and it doesn't like it. Both switches are activated by the brake pedal arm.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm a little confused about your statement: but with the brake light switch in tow mode.

Is there some kind of switch in the car that needs to be turned on or off?

Oh, sorry for the confusion. On my setup I have a manual toggle switch for the brake light switch cutoff. In your case, you have the brake light relay kit. They perform the same function. Only difference is that mine is manual and yours is automatic.

So... My research online states that since my car has a push-button start feature the Brake Light Relay Kit wiring should be set "normally closed" and that normally closed operations may require additional connectors and length of wire that are not included with this kit.

I'm wondering if they installed it "normally open" and if that is the issue.

Can't believe I have to troubleshoot their installation.

Anyway, does anyone have experience to indicate if it was installed normally open that it would affect my car dash idiot lights?

Called RoadMaster but they only indicated the components should work fine if installed correctly.
