Help with Toad Wiring
I have a 2006 Itasca Sunrise motorhome. I tow a small pickup. When I check the tow lights, the turn signals work, the parking lights work and the warning flashers work. I do not get stop lights when pressing the motorhome brake pedal. All lights on the rear of the motorhome work properly. When pressing the brake pedal on the motorhome, the motorhome brake lights and amber turn signal lights come on steady. I am using a four pin connection. What am I missing?

First off, welcome to IRV2!
Somewhere in the rear of your motor home around the hitch you should have a trailer light converter that combines the brake lights with the turn signals into your four wire hookup. If this is burned out, then the brake lights on the motor home will not activate the ones on your pickup. I had the one on our 2006 Itasca Sunrise fail the same way. It will look something like below.

I gather you have separate brake and turn signal lights on your coach and combined brake and turn signals on your car. If this is the case, you need to install a converter in your coach to convert to the 4-wire system in your car. Auto parts stores can fix you up. Just make sure to get the right converter, as there are converters to go the opposite way. E-trailer has them too.

I concur with Lt Dan. I had the same issue with my 2006 Itasca Sunrise.

Hello Chief AT,
Coincidentally, I have been troubleshooting this very sexy problem for the last few days - mine was a big uglier, as I was blowing brake light fuses.
Just two hours ago I picked up a brake light convertor from Walmart (automotive section). See pics. $21.00
Keep on mind that "powered" and no powered versions exist. In my case I will install the convertor upstream on my RV hitch loom. As you can see, you will tie in the individual brake wire, and the turn signal wires - the output will contain turn/brake on the green and yellow turn signal wires to the RV side connector.
Agree with the previous helpful inputs.
Best wishes. Paul

I replaced the 5 wire to 4 wire converter and no help getting brake lights to work on the toad. What I found was that on my 2006 Itasca Sunrise, when the brakes are applied, the amber turn signal lights and brake lights on the RV come on. This is confusing the converter and sending a brake light out of the converter. Anyone have a 2006 Itasca Sunrise that can tell me if the brake lights and turn lights are supposed to come on when braking? Turn signals work properly otherwise. Disconnecting the turn signal wire inputs to the converter does allow the brake signal to go thru the converter.
