I towed an 09 for 30,000 miles. You have to remove a fuse ( I installed a switch ). It tows very well. I didn't care for the ride ( very rough ).

Here is a link to a Google search of iRV2 posts with the terms "HHR" and "toad" in them.

Been towing ours for 10,000 miles now and no issues if done correctly. Chuck

I had a 2011 as a toad for 3 years, it was also my daily ride. I installed the base plates myself. I used Blue Ox base plates. I followed their instructions for removing the front fascia and installing the base plates. Hardest part was drilling the holes for the base plates, that is some hard steel. I installed a US Gear Unified Tow Brake System, I like having the option of being able to manually apply the toad brakes. I think the light system I used was Roadmaster. I was a good little toad until a girl turned against the light in front of me and I t-boned her. Totaled both cars but no one was hurt.

It's pretty low in the front end where the baseplate goes. It wasn't an issue other than having to use a 10" drop down receiver because my hitch was 22" high at center. I had to steer clear of steep driveways ( only abandoned one ) .

I had SC2 before the HHR. Towed it for over 62,000 miles.
