Honda Civic Towable?
Does anyone know for sure if a 2003 Honda Civic with manual transmission can be towed with all four down or not? I have never towed before but hope to.

Remember about tow bar height. The Civic sits very low and the tow bar connection points on the car should not be more than 4 inches below the center line of the receiver on the tow vehicle. This means you will have to use a long drop down hitch on the tow vehicle. You will have a hitch drag problem.

Your owners manual will tell you if it is towable 4 down.

Maybe, maybe not.
Honda used to say (if asked) that as far as they knew there were no problems, but it wasn't in the manual.

Very towable. I had two 2004 and 2006. Now towing a CRV. Got tired of the low seats. LoL.

That is right. This vehicle is not listed, however, this list is also NOT bullet proof. Lots of folks are towing vehicles NOT listed in the guides. Honda also STATES in the owners manual the Civic is tow-able 4 down. Then there is personal experience that count for something, as I have had 2 different Civic models and towed these for many thousand miles WITH not a single issue with either car.

Our '05 Ody is not towable four down according to Honda and other lists, they paid us $2,200 since we had it in writing that it was towable. We bought a dolly but left the all the towing gear intact. Since then I've talked to several owners of them and all have been towing with no trouble. So, a few months ago I started towing ours four down again. So far no problems, other than forgetting to release the parking brake completely. Yes, it burned up the parking brake shoes.

Been towing a 2009 Honda Civic with auto 4 down for about 25,000 miles now. No issues, no worries.
In the late 90's, folks did not read or follow Honda's towing directions which resulted severe damage to the transmissions and then these same owners wanted Honda to replace the damaged transmissions. As a result Honda published very restrictive towing guidelines which is why the Civics and Accords are no longer on the dinghy towing lists. Most manuals state Short distance, low speed, emergency towing only.
I tow my Civic with no worries and should I have a failure I fully understand I'm on my own. As stated, 25,000 plus miles of towing and not issues and no worries.
