I recall when I wired the taillights on my '15 RAM 1500, I first tried a "plug-in-kit" which did not work and I had to wire the lights by splicing into the wiring. There are three wires to each brake and each taillight, one being a "sense" wire to detect if the light is failing. I had a diagram which showed the color codes.

Being a Mopar, your Grand Cherokee may have a similar thing. If I locate the diagram I'll post it.

Thank you Did you have to find a good ground location? I tried grounding the light kit with the screws that were provided by blue ox. I have a feeling that it’s not steel. The screws would not take. Thanks

Would like to here from people who have a 2015 GC Limited to see what has to be done. I no I have to get a baseplate installed, but other that what did they do for lights and brakes?

Just traded our 2015 for a 2018 but, we loved our 2015 and never had a single problem. The GC Limited tows like a dream.
