Honda Fit Toad - anyone out there towing one?

Bought an automatic 09 Honda Fit last year to tow behind MH. Not full time RV'er but will uses through periodically though 3 seasons. towed it a couple times with demco tow dolly last year but thinking of setting it up for flat tow. Guide says it can be done with some basic prep and moderate restrictions (500 miles without restarting and 65 mph limit). Already have a blue ox aventa tow bar and going to get a base plate.

I have two questions - First any feed back on towing the honda Fit
Second - type of brake system. Leaning towards a portable brake buddy/even brake type system since not really sure how long we will tow a 11 year old Fit. Any input as to make/model would be appreciated.

Thanks

We towed a 2012 Fit up until a couple of weeks ago. They make great toads and are easy to tow. Follow Honda's instructions for the transmission and be sure and shut off everything (fan, radio, etc.). We found that the RVi Brake was the easiest to use. The Fit, as you know, is a bit small but it does have a floor pan which the RVi fits in perfectly. Just drop it in, connect the brake pedal, and run through the start up. You will have to run a breakaway wire through the firewall but it can be done through any of the big grommets used for wiring.

Dave-

We tow a 2009 Fit Sport automatic. I installed the Demco Stay-in-Play Duo braking system.

I also installed a plug-and-play brake light system that may no longer be made. That system provided a brake activation signal that I fed back to the dash in the coach, where I placed an LED, so I would know when the brake pedal was depressed (by the Duo).

It took a lot of work to get the parts inside the Fit. I suspect I would sell the car with them intact, rather than try to remove them.

We have towed the Fit for something like 22,000 miles so far.

IMPORTANT!: Follow the instructions in the owner's manual to prep the car for towing.

Thanks. Was figuring on trying to run a charging wire from MH to fit to keep battery up. Thanks for the input about the brake system
