Hopkins 56210 flat tow harness instead of Mopar for Wrangler JL

Has anyone looked at or already purchased the Hopkins flat tow harness instead of the Mopar one? Obviously the price point makes it interesting, but I have to wonder how the two are different with such a large price difference.

Have purchased the Hopkins kit but have not yet installed. When I did my original set up, did a stand alone system vs the Mopar. As far as differences between the two. The Hopkins is a diode system. The Mopar appears to be a relay system. The Hopkins only does the tail lights, Mopar also picks up the licence plate. Hopkins uses a four wire flat connector, Mopar a seven pin connector.

Reasons I did not use the Mopar. Amount of disassemble required to install, did not like the design of the pigtail from bumper to camper, cost.

Thanks for all the great info. Looking up a diode system is on my to do list to see the difference. That is a big price difference just to have license plate lights. I didn't figure I would use the pig tail connector on the Mopar one so having the 4 wires in the Hopkins isn't a big deal since will need to put a different end on it. Currently not planning on having a battery charger so don't think I need additional lines.

Ordered and shipped; should be here next day or so. Will be installing it shortly after.

For comparison, I have the Roadmaster kit installed on the Xterra we've been towing. Separate diodes and you have to splice them into the wiring. The Hopkins kit has the diodes in a pack and is "plug-n-play". A LOT cheaper, but does not include the coiled harness to go between the coach and the toad. I have that already, so no problem there.

I ran into a problem with the Hopkins for my 2017 Wrangler. Wound up going to the Mopar harness.
Not sure why it struggled to communicate with the Jeep but it did.
No issues with Hopkins CS or their products. Just did not work for me I guess.
The Jeep harness has been flawless.

I couldn't get the Hopkins kit to work on our 2017 JKU either - my solution was to fall back on the trusty old magnetic light kit that has been in my storage bin for 20 years...

I put the Hopkins kit, not sure now which model, on my 2012 Wrangler and it works perfectly. No glitches at all.

Used the Hopkins 56200 kit on our 16 JKUR. Installed it this week along with the M&G brake system. The Hopkins kit was easy, works perfectly. Took a little over an hour to install. The M&G took somewhat longer, but I love their products. Used one on our last toad for many trouble free years.

Used the Hopkins on my JK, it worked flawlessly. I bought a new JLU and the Hopkins kit wasn’t available at the time. I used the CoolTech on the JL, it too works flawlessly.

I decided to install the Mopar kit on my 2019 JL. I did the baseplate but hired dealer to do the install.

I looked any the Mopar kit but as I recall you have to take apart the inner fender, fish into the area under the dash, etc. Most of the Hopkins work was at the back except running a wire to the front. Did it 4 years ago along with other towing mods so all details are not the freshest. Basically this worked well and easier/cheaper for me I rarely tow after dark so a license plate light was not an issue for me.

Update, installed my Hopkins kit in my JL and it did not work. Called Hopkins and apparently there was a run of defective units for the JL.

Does anyone have the mopar part number for the flat tow wiring harness?
I believe I may need the one that keeps power to the electric steering. It is for a 2017 Grand Cherokee limited.

I used the Hopkins kit on my '14 JKU. Works fine for my rig.
