Since we started towing our 2014 Honda CR-V with 3,500 miles on the MH odometer, I know that pretty much everything since that point is mileage against tires and transmission. We bought the Honda as a CPO and I know it does not have the original factory tires. Wondering how much tread wear there is, I bought a tread depth gauge to check how much life is left on the tires. I looked up the specs online to find out what brand new tires tread depth is vs. mine and was really surprised to find that all the towing miles (24K) has not really increased the wear on the Honda tires. We tend to not drive the toad a lot when we are home.

I tow my truck about 7K miles a year. I don't track any of it. I don't see a reason to. I do the servicing as specified and it's easy enough to see what the tires are doing and if they need rotating.

What is "CPO"?

I keep a mileage book for towed mileage and add that to odometer mileage for tire and transmission. I change the oil and lube between 5K and 10K odometer miles. I think it is somewhat important to know the total miles on the toad, not just for maintenance. Our toad is a dedicated toad, the only time it is driven at home is if we haven't traveled for a while, I take it out for 5-10 miles per month, just to keep the thing exercised. Keep it in the driveway with a fabric cover on it. I guess time will tell if these things make it last longer??

Regards.

Chuck

I haven't changed the maint/servicing schedule on my 07 Accord. Of course tires wear out faster but I run touring tires rather than performance now. Will get 10-20k more miles.
38k miles pulling. No problems. Not suppose to go over 35 mph, ya right....
