How do you know the Toad is at the right distance?
How do you determine if you have the Toad at the right distance to the rear of the coach before you attempt hooking up the tow bar?
We are just getting into towing a Toad. I've only hooked it up and pulled it once on a test drive. It was easy enough to hook up on level concrete. I can see that it would be a chore on certain surfaces. So how do you know when you have it at the right distance - other than the trail and error method.
thanks

I use a pool floaty. Cut it to hookup length and run it off my rear grill. When the toad hits and bends the floaty know I’m good. You may have to modify a bit if you have a side radiator fan on your unit, but principle the same.

Does your : Ready Brake tow bar have extendable arms ?
On my Blue Ox , arms collapsed , I pull up the toad & set the brake ( or have the wife drive it up close to center ) inside the extension range of the arms ; make my connections then, release the brake & back up the toad till the arms lock extended , then proceed with battery disconnect , trans neutral , cables and light wiring .

I cheat. My Equinox has a front camera and I know where the tow bar arm ends should be with respect to the colored lines.

That's actually pretty neat.

One of us drives the toad up, the other “guides” from behind the motorhome.

You mean like a pool noodle? I not sure what you mean by "run it off my rear grill". I have a rear grill... do you mean to stick the end of the noodle between two of the grill cross pieces and it sort of hangs there pointing backward while you pull up to it? I can picture that, and yes, it's a neat idea.

I like this idea. I think I can make this work. I just have to figure out how to "mount" it to the coach.

Sounds like a nice toy $$!
I just keep the arms collapsed, and guide the wife till she's about 18" from the bar.
