How to juggle all the inputs on one dash monitor?

HANG IN THERE - LONG POST THAT ENDS WITH QUESTION ABOUT A NEW TOAD.

We have been using our dash monitor with Android Auto for our navigation. That works fine except when you use left/right blinker the camera takes over the display and map disappears. So, you better make a mental note of your exit before you start using the blinker because you won't have a map.

Now add in that we are pulling a toad for the first time. We can set the dash monitor to show the rear view, but then I can't use my map. Also - this is the same screen used for my radio.

So, for now I think we will set the monitor to display rear view - not hook up my phone to Android Auto and just use google maps on the phone stand-alone. The other option is buying 5 different monitors to have plastered all over the dash - which seems stupid.

How do you seasoned toad wranglers do it? Do you just check the rear camera a few times and ignore it the rest?

One monitor for nothing but cameras. Usually on rear, and switching to side view on turns.

Second screen for nav etc.

That's my preference.

I have also learned DO NOT pair a phone to a nav screen. Unless you enjoy having the nav screen disappear in the middle of Atlanta because some telemarketer calls your phone.

wfcentral-

Coaches are differently-wired, and each person has his own preferences. Here are ours.

1) No side cameras- use mirrors
2) GPS has a feed from the rear-view camera. GPS can run both at the same time. Camera is not tied to the reverse-gear signal, so it is on whenever the GPS is on. Can switch between GPS and camera by pressing "button" on screen.
3) Radio is radio, except it does have audio input from GPS (louder than GPS speaker)
4) Passive audio switch allows multiple inputs to the radio at one time
5) Phone is phone. Ran for a while with driver's cell phone connected (Bluetooth) through GPS for hands-off answering and traffic updates. Found it was easier just to let the navigator handle the two phones. Haven't missed the traffic updates much.
6) Navigator has a second GPS. No camera input, no audio output on that GPS. As of now, it's the same model as the one at the driver's seat.

I also use android auto.

I plan on getting a second display for the rear camera, leaving the in dash for navagation.

I will set it above the in dash display.

Side cameras do nothing for me, so they will be disconnected.
