If you do this it will change your front end geometry, all 3 setting that are normally checked. You will have to get a front alignment. You may or may not be able to get it back within spec depending on the amount of adjustment you have. I would leave things just like they are.

Finally: According to Camping world the setup is within spec and I was told there is another option, add a 3/4 inch coil spring spacer kit to the Jeep, this would bring the jeep very close to being level front to rear with only a slight rake. This would give a height difference between the rear of the coach and the jeep of about 1" which would be perfect in an emergency braking condition. Apparently this will also make the jeep ride better without making major suspension modification to the jeep.

<snip>
From the Roadmaster instructions for our tow bar:

"Always cross the cables under the hitch receiver, as shown in Figure 8 under “Proper installation of safety cables.” In the unlikely event the tow bar separates from the motorhome, crossing the cables will help prevent the tow bar from dragging on the ground, which can cause the tow bar to “pole vault” the towed vehicle."

Let's see...random service manager...manufacturer...random service manual...manufacturer...yeah, I'll take the manufacturer's advice, every time. I've heard an incredible amount of misinformation from service managers over the years. Many of them are not technical people at all.

The lift kit might cost more than a drop bar. But if the tilt's within spec, I wouldn't bother. We had slightly more than the 3" RM specifies, so I got a 2" drop bar. From the RM manual, again:

"Towing with a motorhome-mounted tow bar which has an upward or downward slope puts undue strain on the entire towing system. For that reason, do not tow if the tow bar is not within the ‘Safe Zone’ — no more than three inches above or below level.

"Towing a vehicle with a tow bar that is not within the Safe Zone will result in significant wear and tear on the tow bar and baseplate, significant wear and tear on the vehicle’s suspension and frame, and the eventual failure of the towing system."

When I first bought my Blue Ox I needed a 4 inch drop receiver for my 2004 Southwind.
My Ellipse and Horizon are level without a drop receiver
I would just measure the distance at the receiver and at the tabs.
If it’s more than 3 inches, just get a 2 inch drop receiver, they are cheap.
Also, your cables should not be hanging down like they are.
You should follow blue ox recommendation on the cables and wrap them around the unit crisscrossed.
Camping World should have given you a walkthrough after they put it on. How to attach and detach correctly

Watch this.
It’s great instruction video

Talking

Our blue ox, best if level. Can be up to 3 inch off of level.

Service managers are salesmen, talking heads for the service department.

They don't know anything about mechanics.

I tried to find this in my Blue Ox information but failed. Could you post the actual Blue Ox quote please? I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Look here at the manual for installing the BX7335 unit. See page two of the PDF and look at how the safety cables are routed.

Wow, that’s a broad statement. Let’s go with All nurses are women, all wine tastes the same, all trees are green.

Thanks. That document actually indicates not to wrap them around the unit. The document does indicate to cross the safety cables.

Yup.

I have the same towbar as OP.
His looks pretty good.
Towed a Jeep Liberty with it.
And now a Fiat 500C Pop.

Level is better.
If the tow bar went up an angle to the MoHo hitch it was difficult to remove the connector pins if things weren’t nearly square, even with the little car. Added a drop extension to make it close to level/square and that helped alot. Seemed to pull much better too…

May I ask why cross the safety cables? i've never done that, but if there is some safety reason to do it, I definitely will start doing it.

Thanks.
