Installation advice needed

We have a 2008 Honda CR-V we've been towing for a while without a supplemental braking system but that is going to change soon.

I bought a used EvenBrake 9400 and am finally in a place where I can install it.

Making sense out of Roadmasters instructions is giving me a headache. And most of it doesn't apply to us because I added new lights to the Honda rather than using diodes. The other thing I'm doing differently is that I'm hoping to power the EvenBrake compressor/actuator and ICX transmitter with a jumpstart battery. I got the idea from someone here so I'm almost convinced that it can be done.

There are 4 wires from the umbilical. Ground, right turn, left turn, and brake. The ones I need to worry about are ground and brake. But I think in order to make it work electrically I have to tie the umbilical ground to the jumpstart ground or the brake light 12v signal will not get to the ICX because it's ground will be through the jumpstart box. See, I told you it was a headache.

Anybody done this or am I in uncharted waters here?

Thanks!
