Question Installing tow brake voiding warranty

I bought a new Jeep Wrangler and need to install a tow brake system. I want a permanently installed system (Air Force One) but have heard that it can create a possible warranty issue. I know the dealer needs to prove the non-stock item caused the problem but they can cost me a lot of time and money. Thought please.

I've not heard of this being a problem. Then again, I don't worry about or carry a warranty. My BIL has installed tow plates and various other things on his Raptor and the dealership doesn't batt an eye. My suggestion would be to call Jeep and ask the question.

I had issues with a locked up brake caliper on my F150. I took it in and the dealer said that because I had a M&G brake system on there, it would not be covered by warranty. Well, I told him otherwise and asked if we needed to get the Ford district rep involved. He backed down and fixed it. They get paid more from a customer bill than what warranty services pays them so, if they can, they will try to push it off to the customer. .

I was told by my local Jeep dealer that since the Air Force One was tapped into the vacuum system on the Jeep, that any issue with the vacuum system would not be covered by warranty. Otherwise, it wasn't a problem. Now we're out of factory warranty so not concerned about it.

When you think about the long list of things you could have a warranty issue with, the added on braking system probably falls about 99th on the list.

I've added an AF1 braking system to my last five NEW trucks, a week after I bought them.

We had an electrical issue with our Wrangler that was caused by the wiring I added for flat towing - a butt splice connector let go of it's wire. The dealer not only found the issue and fixed it, they got it covered under the warranty!
