Installing Trailhawk Running boards

I have a 2018 Trailhawk. My wife has some difficulty entering/exiting the vehicle. I decided to add running boards just as I did on my Grand Cherokee Limited.
I bought Black Horse Off Road Running boards part number RJECH. They are designed for 2017/18 Cherokees all models. They look great.
My question is the instructions say to remove the rocker panels below the doors. Step 3 in The Chinese instructions call them the original side skirts.
Has anyone removed these "side skirts" or what I call Rocker Panels? In all my years of vehicle maintenance I have never removed rocker panels. Anxiously awaiting help. P.S. You tube has no videos on this project.

I would suggest posting this question on the Jeep Cherokee Club Forum

Installed the running boards yesterday. They look pretty good but I think I am going to paint the outer edge flat black when the weather warms up. April 14 in Ohio and we gave snow flurries. Paint doesn't stick very well in weather this cold.

Thanks for posting the photo, do they make entry and exit easier? My wife has a 2017 Cherokee Overland with the higher 4x4 suspension like the Trailhawk, so we might be interested in doing this mod also.

Yes, they make entering and exiting the vehicle easier. I ordered mine trough Amazon and got them in 2 days free shipping. The part number for Cherokees is in the original post. If you need help on how to install pm me. They are actually made for 2017s. I had to make a small modification to fit the 2018.

There are a bunch of different running boards out there. Some make the car look good/rugged, while some are just ugly. I installed the AMP running boards that are powered. They're pricey, but worth taking a look at. They retract and are hidden when the door closes.
