Invisibrake System Problems

I recently had a Road Master Towing system installed to tow my 2015 Ford Explorer. I chose the Invisibrake system because that is what was recommended by Camping World. The system has never worked. It will not hold air pressure. I have taken it back to Camping World twice since the original install. Each time I leave the system appears to be working but by the time I get home it has lost pressure. I have had the unit bench tested by Road Master and they say the unit is in good working order. I am loosing confidence in Camping World but the unit has never worked since the original install. Any suggestions.

Do you have the tools to put a vacuum on the various components? You can get a Mityvac for around $40. That would allow you to test the hose and actuator. At least then you could narrow down the faulty component.

Of course, Camping World should be testing this stuff if they installed it. I don’t have one of these units.....how do you know it’s losing pressure?

Invis-a-Brake gets power from the MH by way of the running lights. Your lights must be on whenever towing.

There is a single wire that is not part of the cable that goes to your seven pin plug, it is an additional plug you must connect each time. This is supposed to connect to an indicator light on your RV's dash. This feedback line is important.

Please describe the symptoms a little more. My setup has been flawless with me only needing to adjust the tension on the brake pedal actuating cable once after the initial install.

And, yes. Camping World should be standing behind their work and the products they sell and giving you some active support. I happen to be lucky in that the Camping World near me still has the original crew from before the buyout and their customer support and work ethic are great.

What do you mean by lost pressure, Is it, does not presure up as well when you get home or the brakes do not apply very good.

What happens when you pull emergency brake away switch what does the presure read and does the brake peddle depress.

I am pretty sure the Invisibrake does not have an accumulator bottle in it. It utilizes the vacuum system on the toad. When you depress the coach brakes the Invisibrake will come on actuating the air cylinder which in turn cause the brakes to be applied via a cable pulley system.

Stand by the toad and have someone depress the coach brakes. You should hear the Invisibrake kick on and the towed vehicle brake pedal depress. If it does, it’s working.

You do not have to have the coach lights on for the system to work. You do have to have them on in order for the Invisibrake to charge the Toad’s battery.

The single thin black wire should be run from the towed vehicle brake light switch (cold side) to the front of the coach. It is just a tattle tail light and beeper that lets you know if your toad brakes are being applied. The system still works with or without it.

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I don't know anything about the Invisibrake but noticed you are new on the forum and wanted to say hello!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!
