Jeep Battery Discharges when being towed

We tow a Jeep Sahara with a Class A Meridian. The Jeep battery is always discharged when we arrive after a day of traveling. How should it be hooked up? Maybe we are doing it incorrectly.

What year is it? If its old enough to have locking steering, that has to have the key on, you will have to either disconnect the battery, or install a disconnect switch.

Not a lot of information here, but if you have to put your Jeep ignition in the accessory position to tow, then yes, your battery will drain. You have two options- either install a battery disconnect switch or install a towed vehicle battery charger. Lots of posts on this forum on the subject- try the search function.

Good luck and welcome to irv2!

My jeep is old enough to have locking steering but i removed the switch assembly and ground off the locking pin to convert it to non locking. Easy to do probably 1 hour at most. Now can tow with key off and tail lights driven from MH thru diodes so no load on battery.

I have used a solar battery maintainer. I just plug it into my cig lighter and put the solar panel on the dash. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012ZHGGXU...ding=UTF8&th=1

I tow my 2007 jk with the key in acc everywhere we go and never had a problem. I think it's because of the Optima gel cell battery.
