On our 2017 while you can turn off the electronic parking brake in the menu, it will still activate if it is put in gear while the door is open. Try it on yours and see.

Ours is the same. I inadvertently had the door open as I set it up for towing. My bad, but the double check we always do saved us.

That parking brake is such a pain sometimes. I have experiences the worst thing that can happen, and that is you just pull the jeep (skidding back tires) and it becomes obvious (to the driver) that something is wrong. I made it about 10 feet, and then I went back and disengaged the jeeps parking brake.
So its always my last step when setting up toad for towing... Check that blasted parking brake!!
