Jeep Grand Cherokee accessory mode

We took delivery of our 2020 Grand Cherokee and had a new base plate and tow kit installed for our RVI3 Braking System. After 15 to 30 minutes of towing, the command center in the RV reports that the RVI Brake is not on.

We suspected the 7 pin to 6 pin Blue OX cable was somehow at issue and had this replaced. I think the Jeep Accessory mode is turning the car off at either 10 or 15 minutes of towing. I have confirmed that the Battery Charger + was installed properly on the RVI Braking System.

How can I keep the Jeep from turning itself off? I leave the key fob in the seat of the Jeep.

Where is the braking system drawing it's power? If the power source is somewhere after the car's ECU then wire the power directly to the battery using an appropriate in line fuse.

In the center console there is a 12 V outlet that remains hot with the Jeep turned off.

2 solutions found

Thanks to a post by Cousin Ed

1.) I was digging around yesterday and found the extra cigarette lighter in the center console. I was going to try this on our return trip with the hope that it stays hot, even with the ignition off.

2.) I also ordered a kit from RVIBrake (25.00) that attaches to the battery and gives power to their braking system.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I actually saw an article a day or two go that the Jeep ECU goes to sleep after 13 minutes. That sounds like your timing.
