Going shopping today and was wondering about the Liberty. Does it have to be 4x4 or can a 4x2 be towed? I see some 4x2's out there but dont want to waste time looking if they wont work.

The Liberty can only be towed 4 down in the 4X4 configuration. The 4X2 could possibly made to be towed 4 down with a drive shaft disconnect. If buying a new vehicle I would go with the 4X4.
Might check the Motorhome Magazine site. They have 2002-2009 vehicles that can be towed 4 down. Look for Dinghy Guide. The '09 Liberty is 4x4 only. MotorHome Magazine: Making your RV travels easier

Finally found one. Took a while but worth the wait. Found an 07 Liberty 4x4 w/24k miles for $11,500. I think it as good deal. Really clean. Now just gotta get the tow equipment, hook it up and cross my fingers on my first tow.
