Jeep Liberty Toad Success!!

I was very pleasantly surprised that my transition from an ACME EZ Tow Dolly, (for sale in iRV2 Classifeds if you need one), with a Toyota Prius to flat towing a Jeep Liberty went well. Kind of... During this past spring break the kids and I took a 500 mile round trip mini-adventure for nine days.

I installed a Blue Ox baseplate on the 2012 4x4 Jeep Liberty, (specifically purchased to be a toad because I became tired of dealing with chains and straps with the dolly). And purchased a Blue Ox Patriot brake actuator.

It turned out after speaking with Blue Ox customer service when I returned home that the "blinking 2" on the Blue Ox's wireless remote meant that I actually did most of my towing without brakes for the toad, (except for breakaway functionality).

My BRK2010 Blue Ox Patriot was sent back to the factory to be updated to the new BRK2012 firmware. Hopefully, it will make setup even easier and I won't get that "blinking 2" after a while.

I currently use the ACME with my Malibu. My daughter is getting ready to trade her 2003 Jeep Liberty for a new car. I thought about making the switch since a dealer won't give her much for the car but unfortunately the New England winters have not been kind to the Jeep and the door bottoms are pretty rusted. Would make a nice light toad though, and I know the history of the car (good and bad).
