Jeep Wrangler,Cherokee, Grand Cherokee info

I am looking to purchase a used jeep brand for a toad, I have read on here about the wobble in the new grand Cherokee, do all the models have the electric power steering ?
what year did the start with the electric power steering?

Looking to purchase something around 2015 newer if price is right.
Looking for your input on the best models.

Good luck on the “Priced right” part. Maybe on a Cherokee but Wranglers are way overpriced IMO.

The (EPS) Electric power steering was added to the Grand Cherokee starting with the 2016 model year. The first reported wobble was in October 2016.

The Cherokee has a flat towing harness available from Jeep and it’s installation appears to have fixed the problem. Starting with the 2019 model, Jeep has added the harness as standard equipment.

The Jk Wrangler has a hydraulic steering system and has not had any reports of a wobble. The newer JL Wrangler has a combination hydraulic/ electronic system with no reports of a wobble.

Save your self time and headache by getting the simplest Jeep you can.
Wrangler model will NOT have problematic things like electronic/electric transfer case controls.

IMHO the Best jeeps for a toad would be a 99-06 wrangler. inline 6 that will last seemingly forever, smaller, overall just less issues.

Get the Wraggler - a decent JK or if you have lots of money the new JL (: We tow an 08 JKS 2dr and it works out well for us.

We love our 2014 Wrangler Sport, we upgraded to the hard top and usually travel with the back seats removed so there is plenty of room for any treasures I find along the way!!

Tow an 02 Grand Cherokee Limited. Has more room than a wrangler, weighs at least 500 lbs less than a 2014 Wrangler, rides better, and will go any where a wrangler will except extreme rock climbing.

Previous toads were an 02 wrangler and an 05 Liberty.

Have towed both 2010 Wrangler, and now 2015 Grand Cherokee.
Both tow just fine
Wrangler much easier to set up for towing - manual transfer case, lighter.
We switched to GC because Wrangler ( 2d ) was not comfortable on the Highway, plus we needed more room for Parents and Grandkids on occasion.

GC has electric transfer case - very simple to setup for towing.

Both Wrangler and GC easy to get wiring harnesses to hook up lights.

Just bought the Jeep in my signature. Love it so far. Have had baseplate, wiring, breakaway switch installed. Will be towing behind the Newmar.

Still undecided on which model, like the additional room in the GC.

Have not towed it yet. Just got everything hooked up including the breakaway switch. I may give it all a test tomorrow. I didn’t really want or need the four door so got this one. Low mileage, no issues so far. Just be sure to check the weights of what you get. My last toad was 2,700, Jeep over 4K.
