K2XX Chevy Silverado/GMC Sierra Tow Vehicle

Hello,

This was addressed in a much earlier thread but I cannot resurrect it form the depths of the forum.

I have a 2014 K2XX Silverado. Blue Ox tow setup and Patriot Braking System.

The pre-drive instructions include disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery to prevent steering column damage (they don't say what kind and when I call GM they don't say anything other than follow the instructions). If I disconnect that I lose the Patriot system. What are some things people have done to workaround this? I did tow it a short distance (5 miles) with the battery connected because I wanted to see the Patriot in action but I've been disconnecting it since.

Thanks in advance!

I suppose I could but not really sure how to go about that without discharging the battery as it works the Patriot. I was even thinking that because I have battery wells for two batteries, I could use the old one (I kept the old battery) and use that as a dedicated Patriot line but then I would have to figure out how to get it to charge afterward. What setup were you thinking about?

I was thinking, run a charge line from the tow vehicle to the plug, then to the battery, then a line to the Patriot.

Cool That sounds like a good idea. Let me look into that more.
