Kar Kaddy SS owners question

I bought a used 2009 that has surge drum brakes. My question deals with tieing the steering wheel. I have no owners manual for my year dolly. The online manual for a new models talks about locking the steering wheel. As my 2013 Ford Edge is none locking I did as some else and used the seat belt to tie my steering wheel for my first trip.
Problem is as the steering wheel still tries to turn I found it wearing on the leather wrap of the steering wheel.
#1 question how do others tie your steering wheel?
#2 question are there some out there that don't tie your steering wheel?

FYI I have 20" tires so my vehicle sits very close the the tow dolly wheels.

Only other problem I had was having two brand new tires fail on the same side.
Last one blew the fender off. Lucky there was no damage to my toad.

My steering wheel locks on my Buick and I use the seat belt for a little added extra security. Not the best option. When I was in the automobile business and moved a lot of cars I used something like this. Not promoting this company as I've never bought from them, they just came up first when I googled the item. I will probably order something like this to not cause issues with my steering wheel.

Are you sure the dolly tires are steering ? And if they are, are the rubbing something on the car ?

I don't have a steering dolly but I do have a turntable type. I have no steering lock and don't tie it. Works fine.

Steering Wheel Locks | Truck n Tow.com
Thanks for the site but that wouldn't work on my steering wheel. Mine isn't open like that on the bottom.

My wheels are steering & not hitting anything on the car. Does the manual on your tow dolly say to tie or lock the steering wheel ?

My manual does not mention it at all. I used it with the steering locked for quite a few trips.

One day after some tight manuvers, the lock jambed up. I freed it up and it no longer locks.

The new manual, I looked at online, now says to tie your steering wheel. I still don't. It tracks fine.

They make several different styles and setups. Just Google steering wheel tow strap.
