Kia Soul 6 pin mount point

I use a 2014 Kia Soul (manual transmission) for my toad. I have a Blue Ox base plate mounted which has two little tubes jutting out in the center for mounting a 6 pin electrical connector. Unfortunately the 2 tubes are not threaded. I bought some #12 self tapping metal screws but they're just a smidge too small to grab in the tube.

My question to anyone with a Soul as a toad, where did you mount your 6-pin connector?

How thick is the metal of the tubes. Can you use #10, or some 3/16 machine screws, and just run a tap in to thread the tubes. Last resort is clean the inside of the tubes really well, fill them full of JB weld, the good stuff made for steel, run your crews in, not to tight, when the JB sets solid tighten them up just a bit more.

I mounted my connector on the two posts on base plate. I do remember there were some screws that came with the kit. Ther were the wrong size. I bought new hex head screws and slowly back and forth turned the screws until I cut some threads.

My impression was the outside of the post was a tube rolled over to make the inside of the post for the threads. Its was a cheap post. Right below those post they had a place to mount the break-a-switch. Make sure you mount that switch before you put it all together.

I found that the #14 self-tapping screws worked fine. I got the 1 inch version because I kind of felt that the 3/4 were just slightly too short if I used the included flat and lock washer.

Thank you for your help everyone. By the way, what brake product are you using? I do still need to get a toad brake.
