Looking for TOAD

I’m looking for something pretty specific for a TOAD and need some help. I want to buy a vehicle to flat tow behind my Monaco Knight DP. Should be easy, however, it needs to be able to carry a family of 6 around so either 3 rows or a bench seat in the front. I’d also like to spend less then $5k so I’m looking for an older 2000-2005 vehicle. It won’t be an everyday driver, only used occasionally. Any suggestions?

We towed our 98 Durango for 22 years. Only had 106k miles on it. Just traded for a Wrangler. If you can find a first gen Durango, seat seven, tows very well, hold up well and can be had for well less than 5k. Just a thought.

2003-ish Honda Pilots were flat towable and have a third row. Little bit lighter than a Durango and probably much more reliable. You might be able to find a pretty clean one for around $5k.

Take a look at the 2008 Ford Taurus-X, this was the Ford Freestyle in 05-07, but got a facelift and a new transmission that allowed flat towing in 2008, it came in 6 or 7 passenger layout deepening on 2nd row seating being bench or bucket seats. This same chassis layout became the Ford Flex in 2009 with another freshening of body style, it too was flat towable in some configurations.

A quick search on Car Gurus showed a few of these for sale within a couple of hundred miles of where I live with asking prices in the $5,000 -$6,000 ballpark
