MA EZpass with toad

We will be making our maiden voyage pulling a tow vehicle in a few weeks! My question is how do we handle tolls? We have the MA E-ZPass for the motor home. Do we place an additional transponder in the toad or does the one in the MH cover both?

TIA!

We have Mass WZ pass. They gave a two for the motorhome. One to use when towing and the other if it’s just the motorhome. Also have one in the toad. When it’s behind the motorhome I have to put that one in the coated sleeve they gave me so it won’t read.

We were told to make sure the tow vehicle does NOt have the Ezpass transponder anywhere the toll readers can see it. Just use the 1 in motor home

With the Texas pass system, you can go to the companies web site and turn OFF the pass in the car if you are going to be towing it behind the RV.

The RV needs a good pass.

When I got the EZpass for the new RV they told me I needed one for 5 axles; so even if we aren't towing we pay for the toad. It just seems like the Massachusetts Way!

I bought mine in neighboring RI, the EZPass for the car is stowed in the bag that prevents it from being read when towing behind the coach. The system will determine an axle count when you drive through is what I was told. Since EZPass isn’t specific to Mass, it should be the same. I have been using for years without any issues.

My EZ Pass, which was issued through IL, will charge for just the MH or MH + toad depending on how I have the vehicle set in the online profile. Not sure how things are set up in the state where you got the transponder, but you could start with checking out the online settings.

I have the Mass ezpass and they gave me two. One for just the truck, and a second one for when I have the fifth wheel in tow. I keep the one not being used in a protective bag.

On our last trip south we had the E Z Pass for our Honda Fit in the foil bag they sent us which was then put in the toads glove box. 2 tolls in NJ STILL read that pass anyway and we got charged for the motorhome AND the toad separately. What a hassle to try and get reimbursed for that. We have our pass through E Z Pass Maine and they said it was an NJ problem. Lesson learned, the toads E Z Pass now stays at home when we're towing it!
