Maverick Hybrid Stuck in Neutral Tow

I have towed my 23 Maverick 8 to 10 times now, and most time's it comes out of Neutral Tow normally.

Every time I have done it, it comes out, but twice now, the DW has tried, and it becomes drivable, but the dash indicator stays in neutral. Once that happens, it freezes and can't be put back in Neutral tow. I watched the wife go thru the same exact steps as me, but it locks up on her.


The fix, so far, is to disconnect the battery for a few minutes, and it resets.

I'm not the only one having this random issue, I belong to a Maverick Truck fourm, and its showing up with the few who tow them..
Talked to Ford, was no help, and opened a case with them 2 months ago, no response.

Just a caution to those who tow a Maverick.

Just pulled my Itasca Sunrise into the RV park in Hardin MT for two nights after towing my ‘23 Maverick for four days from Seattle.

I was very careful to follow all the manual’s steps for taking it in/out of tow mode whenever we stopped. Ran it a bit each day to save the battery. But this evening is the first time it’s been off the tow-bar.

This EXACT symptom appeared. Mav kept telling me it was in tow mode, the dash never left “N”. I could start it up and drive it around (the gear knob worked fine) but the settings would NOT allow me to re-enter tow mode.

I spent a while thinking about having to tandem-drive the next month of vacation and looked up the subject here.

Your fix worked on the first try. I left it for only a minute or two (while I took a short walk for my blood pressure to calm down).

Feeling very old and Boomer-y about how weird the battery disconnect mechanism was, but this is my first hybrid.
