MKX Lincoln
About to start full-timing. Have recently purchased a 2005 Dutch star with 370 cummins. I am currently test driving a 2011 mkx Lincoln. It seems to be a car that I would to use a toad. It is front wheel drive and I have gone through the Manuel which states that it is towable 4 down (requires a few steps). My question is, has anyone towed this type of vehicle or have knowledge of others who have done this. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Roger

I'm under the impression it must be a AWD to be towable four down and that a front wheel drive needs to be either dollied or trailered.

Not so John. FWD is towable 4 down.
What do you want to know Roger. I tow a 2013 Lincoln MKX. First time towing was about 2 weeks ago. Towed it 250 miles, stayed for a few days, then towed it 150 miles and stayed a few days, then towed it 200 miles home.
I am using the Blue Ox Base Plate, Blue Ox tow bar, and Blue Ox KarGard II.
Go throught the running for 5 minutes before towing, shift in accordance with the manual, put it in accessory and off you go.

Mkx toad
Thanks Wayne, My mtr home came with a 10,000 blue ox, no base plate. Not sure what a blue ox karguard is (probably a fabric cover for the front of the toad?) Will make offer on vehicle tomorrow, The only problem I can see or should say smell is that it was previously owned by a smoker. I can live with it but DW may have issues with it . Thanks again . Roger

No such thing Marine, you are one.
Go to a Dealer and get a "Smoke Bomb."(Name may be something else.) It is something their detail people use to get the smoke smell out. Just tell them what you are trying to do.
The Blue Ox Base Plate will be the same one I have for the 2013. The KarGard II is the screen that stretches out from the TOAD to the MH and prevents rocks from being kicked up. (probably not 100% but still a good thing in my book.)
