I've posted this before but here is my solution and it has worked well for the past about 6 years now and well over 35k miles.

I experimented with rear hanging flap/guard and no rear hanging flap/guard on our last coach and saw no real difference as long as the rear flap was about 4+ inches off of the ground in the static condition.

We have flat towed Jeeps for over 175k miles now over the past 25 years and up until our latest Jeep we had not experienced any rock chips. I finally discovered it was the Jeep's aggressive tires actually throwing the rocks and NOT the coach.

Here is a thread that discussed this a while back as well as my solution that has performed flawlessly over the past nearly 6 years now.
Pictures of my setup are in post #5.
https://www.irv2.com/forums/f85/yj-t...ns-531534.html

It is quick and easy to setup or disconnect and has resulted in NO further rock chips to the coach or the Jeep even now running 37" tires.
Here are a few more detailed pics.

I had a brush style on my unit and would find heavy deposits of gravel in the cowl area of my toad in spite of having good flaps immediately behind the rear wheels. I gave the brush a haircut, leaving it 6'' off the ground and the problem went away. It had a static clearance of about 2 1/2 - 3 inches prior to the haircut, so I don't think it was touching down, just the air rush was enough to stir up the small stuff.

I have my ad flap on the coach and 30,000 miles and not one chips on my toads and two of toads were new. I guess if you having problems with chips remove it see if solves the problem but before you do that make sure it at least 4" of clearance from the ground.

Walk around the camp ground and I bet 90+ percent of the DP have the flap attached.

I took the long original flap off and cut it into proper mud flaps mounted just behind the rear duals. I used the old 90* channel that mounted the original factory flap to fabricate framework to support the newly installed mud flaps. No toad damage since and that was about 30,000 miles ago. My total cost was a few bolts and screws and a few days work.

When I took mine off, I was shocked by how heavy it was. It’s also much easier to change the oil without it. Don’t have to put it up on ramps and can just drive ahead then pick up the drain pan.

Got rid of my full width mud flap and put individual ones on right behind the tires. 40k miles later I'm still getting chips (but far less) on my 14yo Accord.
Go thru rain pulling, it means always washing the towed vehicle that is so dirty you can't see thru the windshield. Don't use the wipers until you do, otherwise they scratch the windshield.

There must be a difference in air movement under and at the rear of different motorhomes. As I have mention at times, we had no more stone chips on a custom painted trailer after removing the big stone flap. But some say they still do. I did not add individual flaps behind the tag tires and still not stone damage. I guess there is no one "fix it all" answer. The right solution is the one that works for you.

I like my BIG flap

I think my NEWMAR looks good with that full width flap, and I have no
damage to my car on a tow dolly.

Added extensions to the wheel's flap, and a "brush style" out back.
I have those flaps from the factory. Also have some on the front. And along the rear I hane the flaps the are a bunch of 3 inch sections all the way across. It seems to work well.
