I love finding deals like that, when someone else has done all the work.

Great find... We "Rescued" a Saturn Vue 18 months ago. The Previous Owner did a good job of removing the auto tranny and replacing it with a manual. But he couldn't get it running and sat in their drive for 6 years. We picked it up for nothing, just haul it away. Had it running in a week (he had tweo connectors reversed on the wire harness, the Throttle plate control and the fuel injector connectors are identical, but normally on different sides of the engine so it impossible to hook them up wrong. When he swapped engines, he had the wiring harness out and was able to hook them up wrong.

The Vue is showroom inside and out and only has 130k miles on the drive train. I put about $2k in it, brakes, clutch, timing chain, shocks, fuel pump, starter, and a couple sensors and a used ECM that got fried when he plugged in wrong.

I tow a 98 Ford Explorer. Bought it new, paid it off many years ago. keep it very well maintained and in a garage.

According to "book value" my Blue Ox tow bar is worth about as much as the SUV.

The old girl still looks and drives great!

Used to have the Saturn SW2 wagon...Nice riding car.

Saw a picture of one that was sitting next to a building that caught on fire. The heat from the building fire melted the entire side of the car as it's plastic.

I would love to find a little SL2 to tow again.

Used to to one in the late 90's 2000's good reliable car, the DOHC 4cyl was pretty peppy, and it was always towed at 70ish what is 5mph faster than what Saturn recommend and never had any issues with the transmission. Loved the drain plug and screw on filter, did change the fluid with a bottle of Lucas trans treatment every 10k-15k driving / towing because I did go faster than the recommend 65MPH. I will say don't go over 75, it will get too hot if you tow for over 75 for any extended amount of time.

I don't tow that fast ... I like it because it is so light... Didn't notice any mpg change
