new question, old topic. Trailer Brakes

Just purchased a 2012 Sports Coach Pathfinder. We can't find the trailer brake harness under the dash. 7 pin plug in the back w wires leading off to who knows where. Any help would be great.

What chassis is the RV built on? Spartan usually has an electronics bay in front of the left front tire. (under the driver's seat) It might contain the wires for the brake controller. Also check any wiring under the dash that has a multi plug. Often chassis makers prints on the wires what they are intended for.

In many or, even most cases, the trailer brake wiring harness is coiled up, with no plug, way up under the dash. It can be anywhere. Your 7-pin plug on the back of the coach, may or may not be connected to the trailer brake harness of wires, again, depending on whether or not your specific chassis was pre-wired for it. If I recall, I "think" the harness under the dash will be comprised of a blue, red, black and white wire.

vbrackett-

Here's a link to a Google search of iRV2 posts for the past year with the terms "Freightliner," "brake controller" and "wiring" in them.

Here's a link to the same search, without the restriction to the past year.

I've seen pictures here on iRV2, but as I'm not a Freightliner chassis owner I'm reluctant to pick one or two pictures out and say they apply to your coach and model year.

By some of the posts, it appears there are matching connectors available, so you don't have to cut or splice into the chassis wiring. I prefer to do that; it's a way of being kind to the next owner of my coach.
