NoVA Tow Bar & AF1 installer recommendations

Happy to take any recommendations for a shop in Northern Virginia to install base plates on my Jeep Wrangler (Demco tow bar) and the AF1 brake system.

Welcome to the forum.

I see that so far, you've not received any recommendations from iRV2 members.

I've taken notes over the years when we were full-time on our experiences and those of other RVers we've talked to about service recommendations, etc. so have a notes for a lot of places around the country.

One place that was recommended to us when we were visiting the area years ago is Restless Wheels in Manassas. However, when I pull up their website, it appears to me that they may exclusively deal only with Blue Ox products when it comes to baseplates and tow bars. But I'm not sure of that, it just appears that way on their website and they are an authorized Blue Ox dealer. You may want to call them to see if they can get Demco products and install them (including AirForceOne ...but they are not listed on the Demco dealer list.

Go HERE for the Demco (Air Force One) dealers in your area. The first dealers listed are big RV sales dealerships. I tend not to recommend them not only for service but specifically for installation of baseplates and toad set-up as they are usually much more expensive and sometimes difficult to schedule an appointment. The only one that I'm familiar with on the list is D&G Rv & Camper Repair in Carlisle PA. ----> go HERE for their website. They have a good reputation in that area and can set up your toad with Demco products including AirForce One. However, they are probably a good 1 to 2 hours away from you?

So the only place I can recommend that might be closer to you for baseplate installation and toad set-up is Restless Wheels but I'm not sure how they'd handle your desire for Demco products. I'd call them and explain your desire for Demco and AirForce One and see what they recommend. They might ask you to purchase them yourself and bring it in to them for installation if they can't get them for a reasonable price themselves.

thanks for the note & recommendation. I'll give RW in Manassas a call, as well as Demco (maybe they'll have additional insight not available on the website). New to this community/journey so appreciate you taking time to respond.

We had great service with Restless Wheels when we lived in Virginia. But be warned the entrance to their shop is terrible. There was no way I could get in or out without dragging the back end. I recommend you scope it out in your car before taking the RV there.

Yeah, I remember what ageishecker is referring to. Their property is rather difficult to access with little room to maneuver also.

Like you say, you're taking the toad in but if you do eventually go there with the coach, be sure to use the second (south?) driveway and approach and leave at an angle. In fact, if you look at the Google SV they have small sign that advises that at the other driveway ...go HERE

If you do eventually bring the coach, I'd recommend making a left turn into the south driveway and leaving in the same direction ...go HERE for Google SV --driveway behind the white Explorer with the kayak. I'm not sure how they'll advise you to position the coach to hook-up the toad once it's done but I suppose that's something that you can discuss with them prior to picking up the toad if you are going to use the coach which I assume you'd want to do?

thank you all for the heads up on the ingress / egress challenge at RW. after searching through the Demco website today I found a Dealer south of the DMV metro, Campers Inn RV. Roughly 30 miles south of my storage location. They are working on a quote for me as well so I'll compare the two and strongly consider the challenges of getting in and out of the shop in Manassas and "pick my poison".
