Off Road Bumper...4 down towing

I am looking to buy a 2015 Jeep JKU with EAG bumpers, I have no idea if they can be used with the BlueOx system. I called BlueOx and they said "If the bumper is towable it will work, so call the EAG company and ask." Well these bumpers look to be a good inexpensive bumper sold on Ebay and Amazon, made in China and no company number to ask a question like this. They have very good reviews for off roading but I can't seem to find anything about towing behind an RV. So I thought I'd come here and see if anyone had these bumpers and were towing 4 down with them. I am thinking that if the bumper is mounted to the Jeep frame we should be all set. But again I thought I'd ask the experts! I would rather not replace the bumper if I don't have to by the way. Thanks for the help!

I can't answer directly regarding that bumper. Look to see if they have install instructions and read those. If it attaches to the frame you will be golden.

On another note of not wanting to replace the bumper...I didn't either when I had my '12 JK. Bought a base plate from Currie. Back then it was a little over $100...but I see price has gone up. It worked well for me. Coupled with the light kit from Cooltech I was good to go.

Awesome...Thanks for the info. I just read on Amazon that you can tow with this bumper but if there is too much of a lift kit then other adjustments will need to be made. Hard to find info on this bumper....

Be very cautious about towing from the recovery tabs on these cheaper bumpers. Most of them have the tabs welded to the exterior steel and are okay for occasional recovery, but are not suitable for the constant flex of towing. I have seen at least one that broke completely out of the bumper. Anything that is not directly connected to the frame is not suitable for towing. I have one of these "lower quality" bumpers on my Jeep and I would not tow with the tabs. I have a Demco base plate mounted under the bumper, but if I had it to do over again I would have bought a HardRock bumper with tow adapters that bolt directly to the frame. There may be some who will chime in and say it's okay because they do it, but because they have been successful with other bumpers doesn't mean these are okay. It all depends on the construction of the bumper.

One thing that is important is that the recovery points be welded on the inside of the bumper and the outside. Minimum 3/16" steel for the bumper itself especially where the recovery points are located.

Most all decent quality bumpers made for a Wrangler meet the two points above. It should be fairly easy to look and see if the recovery tabs are welded inside and out.

Got a picture of the EAG bumper or a link to one for sale.
