Patriot

So I have this "magical" box that applies the brakes in my Liberty...what is it that makes the Patriot actually apply the pedal? Is there a surge switch inside?

It's an inertial switch, so not exactly a "surge switch" but an electronic cousin of it. That controls the amount of braking applied to the toad. There is also a [wireless] connection to the coach so you can manually apply the toad brake from the driver seat as well, should the need ever arise, or adjust the amount of braking.

Take a bottle of water, hang it from a string inside a vehicle (make sure it can not hit anyting bad) Now observe it while someone drives said vehicle.. See how it swings forward as you stop?

Now,, Take a lead weight Make this weight in the form of a circle, Now cut a 90 degree "Arc" out of this circle, (in fact cut 4 of them) Drill a hole in the square part of the cut and slip it over the shaft of a variable resistor.

The weight swings just like the bottle, forward and back (Won't go side ot side though).. and the pot (Variable resistor) tells the thing to STOP and how hard.

Cool deal...so it's more like the accelerometer in an iPhone.
