Patriot 3 Braking System

Ok newbie here. We bought a Colorado to pull behind our MH, we also purchased the Patriot 3, it is my understanding that we need to leave the ignition switch in the on position so the Colorado steering wheel will not be locked, so now we need a battery disconnect to keep the battery in the Colorado from draining, apparently the Patriot 3 needs to be plugged into the cigarette lighter for power, can someone explain how this is supposed to work ? Should I just get a battery pack to power the Patriot 3 ? Thanks for any tips.

My toad battery stays topped off by using a charge line from the motor home going to a charge regulator mounted in the toad.

You are going to need the battery in the truck to run the brake system.

I would plan on a 7 to 6 pin cable between the MH and Toad. LT, RT, Running, battery charge, ground.

Hi all! Looking for opinions on the Patriot 3 system. Currently flat tow a 2021 Equinox. Had set it up for my existing NSA Readybrute surge system, but not working well, guessing due to electric assist toad brakes. Like the concept of zippo installation/wiring of the Patriot 3, but would like to hear some real life experience with it, especially if anyone is using it with an Equinox. Thank you!!
