PROTECT-A-TOW CRV installation

We are going to Alaska in May, so hubby is installing a Protect-A-Tow on our 2012 CRV. It has to be 54" apart on fron of car. The question is where to attach the eye bolts? He didn't think it should be in the black plastic on bottom bumper.

I had a 2011 CRV that I towed using a protect a tow. I don't remember the measurements but did drill holes in the plastic on the lower outside areas of the bumper for the eyebolts. Towed it around the USA once for sure and maybe twice without problem. I did use large washers under the eyebolts.

I put mine in the black plastic with the eye bolts pointing down (to better conceal them) and it works fine.

The reason they give you the large washers is so you can put the eye bolts in plastic.

Don't worry if you have follow the contour of the bumper to get your 54" the protect-a-tow has plenty of stretch in it.

Hope this helps

I did the same as Bob and Tom. I attached the eye bolts (with washers) to the black plastic portion of the front of my CRV and towed it to AK. The Protect A Tow worked just fine without noticeable stress on it or the CRV.
