PSA - Towing 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have about 25000 miles of towing my JGC. No problems and I love the jeep. But, I did have an incident that I believe to be towing related.

When driving my JGC, I have noticed a reverberation when the speed is above 50mph and the rear windows are not fully closed. I think this reverberation is some kind of pressure wave and can be very annoying forcing me to close the windows.

One day, at the start of a long, hot day of driving the MH with the JGC in tow, I decided to roll down the windows.

At the end of my driving day, I discovered the moonroof glass had shattered.

I generally drive about 62mph, but on a significant down slope, I will let the engine break engage and my speed could get above 65mph.

I doubt the moon roof was hit by a rock. I really do believe the pressure wave busted the moonroof glass.

The repair cost $1000, so I am NOT going to test my theory and repeat a drive/tow with the rear windows down.

I am putting this experience out there as a possibility to be aware of.

I have had several vehicles that experience that when driving with only one window rolled down. I never thought it would bust the glass but it certainly is hard on my ears so we always open a second to relieve the pressure.
