We just purchased a 2012 CRV and page 255 of the owner's manual says a 2wd CRV CAN be towed behind a motorhome.

And the manuals are known to be wrong too. Call Honda on their 800 number and ask them.

I wish it did!! Our '05 Ody has the 3.5L V-6, anything less feels underpowered to me. I regularly get 19 mpg in town and 27 on the highway at 70 mph. It does shut down 3 cyl even at 70 mph, although they cut back in when the hills demand it.
Wish they would put at least the 3.2L V-6 in the CR-V, then I'd really look at it to buy although the Ody tows just fine.

After three days of towing from Dallas to Quartzsite, the battery on the CRV was dead. We did not pull the audio system fuse since we didn't tow more than 8 hours per day. However, the cumulative towing time was well over that mark and merely warming up the engine for a few minutes each morning is not enough. Another factor is the running lights that are on whenever the ignition is in accessory mode. We didn't notice that little feature until after the SMI Duo system was installed yesterday. I plan on installing a wire from the coach to the car today at the show.

The SMI system is very compact and fits nicely under the hood near the passenger side firewall. What a difference it makes, even with a fairly light vehicle like the CRV.

Looking forward to the show today and tomorrow.

The 2006 2 wheel drive can be towed 4 down. We have been towing ours for 5 years. Just follow the instructions in the manual, can't tow over 65mph and need to start the engine after 8 hours of towing. The CRV has not been the best vehicle, it is a bit small for us and we had to reseal the engine at 50,000 miles and they are noisy to drive. We did just put new tires on it with 90,000 miles and found the best Goodyear Traction tire which actually made it quite a bit quieter.

We also had a 2004 Rav, manual transmission which could be towed 4 down. It was about 300 lbs lighter then the CRV and got better mileage, 27 to 30mpg where the CRV best is about 26. A 17 year girl ran a stop sign and totaled our Rav and at the time we couldn't find another Rav and bought the CRV. I believe Toyota changed their 4 down recommendations on the Rav in later years, but the 2004 towed fine.

We just bought a 2011 4Runner and are looking at putting the Remco de-coupling drive shaft on the rear at some future point, but will continue to tow the CRV for the forseeable future. Towing is hard on the hood and radiator, and we just had to align all 4 wheels when we put new tires on it.

When I bought my CRV earlier this year I went looking at a Toyota dealership for a RAV4. The salesman told me that Toyota did not make cars that could be towed. My next stop was the Honda dealer. The CRV has been fine! A neighbor has a RAV4 and he thinks it the greatest but he doesn't tow.
