Ready Brake’s Hercules or Ready Brute Elite.

I know I want to use a Ready Brake tow bar, but I am torn about which one. My toad, a Ford Maverick hybrid is 3,674 pounds and the new Ready Brute Elite 2 is rated for 6,000 pounds, but I am not sure I like the powder coated aluminum inner bars. The Hercules is rated way more than I need at 12k, but has stainless steel inner arms (like all Roadmaster non-binding tow bars). My baseplate will be a Roadmaster direct connect, I am one of two of the factory baseplate prototypes. My rig is a Class C Leprechaun 319MB.

Again I know I want the Ready Brake system, with the Hercules only $90 more should I deal with the extra weight and get the more durable bar?
Responses from all are greatly appreciated, thx.

The Elite 2 is great as long as you install it close to level with little or no top/bottom load on the adapter bolts. Not as forgiving as steel but works as intended.

Only the hybrid Maverick can be flat towed. Just like the current Escape hybrid.

Plenty of folks using the old aluminum ReadyBrute Elite with no problems.

It doesn't seem like you need it, but you don't really say what your objection is to the aluminum. Works fine for us and thousands of others. It has the same limited lifetime guarantee, which others have reported NSA stands behind fully. If not liking aluminum is worth $90 to you, then the answer seems obvious.

I went through the same thought process as you did...ended up going with the Hercules towbar as the price difference was negligible and I like the extra safety margin with the higher load rating.

I have the Ready Brute Elite to two my Jeep Rubicon 2 door and it has worked great. The two most important items to make sure you get it right is the make sure the tow bar is as level as possible when connected to the towed vehicle. Also make sure the brake cable is properly adjusted. If you do those tow things you will have a trouble free towing experience.

I also have an older ready brute system and am really happy with it. I would opt for the heavier duty unit for a $90.00 difference as you never know what the future may hold for a toad.

Smile

Bought the Hercules, looked at Roadmaster and all their non-binding use steel, so a good reference point. Gives me the option to tow heavier down the road as the Ready Brute Elite 2 has a 6,000 pound rating vs the original Ready Brute was 8,000 pounds.

Thanks all,
Bruce

Update

I know this was a few months back but I am interested in installing the Ready Brute Tow bar on a Ford Maverick hybrid. I would like to know if you were successful and wondering if there’s issues going through the firewall. It looks awful tight from photos I don’t have my Maverick yet. Thank you

You will need to find someone that makes a tow loop system for the Ford Maverick. Then you can work on figuring out how to make the Ready Brute work.

What's a tow loop system?

The Maverick hybrid is built on the Escape hybrid chassis so maybe call some ReadyBrute installers and ask if they have done a 2020+ Escape.

NSA has a list of dealers on their website.
