Yea, I like that look. The hookups are a little wider than normal at 35" apart, but I called NSA and they said that shouldn't be a problem.

Looks like it would solve your problem...

Alan

I thinks those are the clevis' connectors that I currently use for my Demco baseplate.

They are adapter clevis plates to allow you to use your Towbar with a Roadmaster Baseplate. You remove your clevis plates and put these in their place. Look at the pdf file I posted in previous message.

Connectors, not plates.
I believe I have the 1/2" Blue Ox universal connectors on my towbar, so I would probably go with the crossbar I linked in post #19. It is for Blue Ox towbars and has the 1/2" connectors.
It also moves the connecting points in to the more conventional 24 inches.

You know for clarity on this confusion... call Etrailer 800-298-8924 they will provide you with options and advice of what you will need. Sometimes too many ideas from different directions can lead to bad decisions. Believe me, I studied and called Etrailer various times because this was hard earned money I was spending therefore had to get it RIGHT the first time. Glad I did. Good luck!!

This is exactly right. Mine came with that heavy part that I think is used IF you want to add one of their protector products to help reduce dings. Mine is still in the box.

Just curious, why is this so?

I think I have three of the crossbars at home that I will end up taking to the scrap dealer. Those that need them already have them, the rest don't need them

Got me, but it is the only style offered with adaptive cruise. The driver side connector has to be outside of the radar sensor.

I too have an Edge Sport and am using the Roadmaster set up with the crossbar. I opted for this because I only needed a 6 inch drop hitch. My first toad required a 10 drop hitch and I found that it bottomed out too many times on various drive ways. And the ease of removing and stowing the towbar, then making the holes disappear with a simple plug almost makes the front end look like a car not a towed car.

I have the Roadmaster Falcon II and it "direct connects" to the baseplate on 2 of my cars (2012 Ford Focus and 2013 Honda CRV) the base plates came with the crossbar but it is not used, the tow bar connects directly and the connecting holes are virtually un-seen when the car is unhooked.

Same here, I was fortunate to find a 10,000 lb used Roadmaster tow bar with the cross bar. When I called Roadmaster to order my baseplate, I had to choose between crossbar base plate or the one without crossbar which I was leaning too. However Roadmaster persuaded me to go with the crossbar baseplate as it was stronger and more rigid setup. Price was the same for either baseplate.

If you want to use the Roadmaster Sterling tow bar the crossbar base plate is recommended but not required. The reason is the way the Sterling safety cables connect to the baseplate.

Another reason for the crossbar is if you ever want to use the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard the crossbar is required for mounting.

As a side note, with the crossbar, if the towbar should ever bind pop the top pins and remove the crossbar with the towbar attached.

Needless to say I have the crossbar tow bar, Roadmaster Sterling towbar and InvisiBrake installed on our 2019 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk.

I have to remove the crossbar when not towing otherwise it impacts the Adaptive Cruise Control and Forward Collision Warning systems on the Jeep.
