Roadmaster Sterling wore out?

After about 50,000 miles it appears my tow bar is wore out. It's the older Sterling which is not made and RM tells me parts are not available to refurbish anymore. Looking at pictures of the new Sterling bar the knuckle and associated parts look the same as the old bar. Has anyone rebuilt their Sterling bar with newer parts? I did order a new bar from eTrailer.com which had a good price with free shipping, but I'm thinking of possibly rebuilding the old bar anyway.

Get rid of it. It is not worth the hassle when it fails again.
The real question is, Why did it wear out? You need to investigate this. If you maintain your equipment it should last a long long time and 50k miles is not long.

I've rebuilt the internals of the two arms. Easily job. New parts fit the older model. But I just tried replacing the yoke and horizontal bolt. There are no longer available parts for our older Sterlings. Just sent back these new parts today. Also the attaching parts to the toad at the end of the arms are different.
You'll have to buy new or find a good newer used one.
My older yoke was loose at joints, I made new sleeves.
Use only spray silicone often to avoid dirt and wear.

You should have kept the old bar and traded it in on a new one. At some rallys, Roadmaster will give you a hundred bucks or so for trade in on a new bar

I did order a new bar from eTrailer and the price was $889 with free shipping. That was as good as Amazon or better, so the only project now is getting the new cross bar bolted up with the square inserts to match the CRV. I was advised by Roadmaster that's not a problem to match the new with the old. RM also advised that they anticipate their bars to last for 70K or 10 years. I made it to the 10 year mark but not the 70K. Although adding up what the PO traveled in our previous coach it does come up to 60K.

Good travels all.
