Roadmaster Tow Dolly

I have a Roadmaster Tow Dolly, Model RM3477 with electric brakes. Three questions:

1. Is a special tool needed to adjust the brakes? There does not seem to be enough room to use the old Drum Brake Adjustment Tool.

2. Is it possible to install a “grease zert” to lubricate the ramp wear strips and deck spacer?

3. I have read that if you remove the Deck to lubricate the Wear Strips/Spacer the nut on the bottom of the Pivot Bold can not be reused. Where can you purchase a new Nut?

I used to have a swivel pan dolly. There were no zerks to lubricate the unit so I just spread grease around as best I could.

dustytwo, How do you like your dolly? I've very recently begun shopping for one to tow our FWD car to avoid the extra cost of buying a flat-towable car plus the setup for it.

I've noticed USA Trailers has a model for less than $1200 as a kit, incl. electric brakes. Then there is the Acme Eze-Tow with automatically actuated hydraulic brakes. I rather like the idea of brakes I don't have to assemble or hook up when I tow.

Any thoughts?

Mastertow and Stehl Tow both offer disc surge brakes on their tow dollys.

Ron,

I have an Acme tow dolly. I choose it because the wheel bearing are guarantee for ten years. Most other dolly require wheel bearing repacking at least once a year or 12000 miles.

My Stehl Tow has grease fitting in the hubs. A few pumps with a grease gun each year and its good to go. 40,000 and I haven't had a bearing apart.

Thanks for the info. When I look at a lot of these things, they look like exactly the same product. If everybody's rebranding these things, who is the actual manufacturer?

Not sure who copied who but the Mastertow has plastic fenders and the Stehl has steel.

I bought the Stehl because it was sold at a local large hardware supply.
Only issue I have is a few cracks in the fenders, over 40000 miles.
