Any experience with a Blue Ox BX8870 KarGard Protective Shield?

Do you need one , probobly not. Catch one coming thru the camp ground , at every dip, it's dragging the ground. If you have bumped the bottom , that thing will be torn off. Going down the highway , as the flap guy pasts your , check out what his flap is doing . Blowing in the wind.

I used one 20+ years ago behind a gas MH. It worked ok, but was a pain to store unless you just lay it under the coach when parked. I have since found that without the big stone throwing flap, I don't need a shield. However, as added protection, I use the "Protect-a-Tow" for my white Avalanche. It is a better option than the KarGard. Nothing gets past it and is easy to fold up and store.

We had one lije that on our last MH and it worked fine.
You should have mud flaps behind rear dualies and the brush is better than a full rubber one IMO. The full width billboards can and do kick up rocks as most hang waaaay to low. I pulled my billboard off and it's better w/o it.

Does it need to stop it? Or just not allow it to be “kicked up”?

Yup, I think that it stops the big ones in mid-air and lets them fall to the ground to go under the toad. Just my theory!

With a tow dolly you should not need anything. The front of the car is sitting higher. I never used anything when I was dolly towing. No damage to my car. Towing 4 down I use the roadmaster tow defender between the RV and the Jeep.

That looks like it leaves a lot of open space for rocks to jump up and ding the toad! I think the Protect-a-Tow provides much better protection.

That is not my setup. Just a picture from the internet. My setup leaves little room between the rv and the Jeep side. I have not had any dings, chips or anything in the last two years of use.

As I have said. The big “billboard” as some call it stops rocks and debris from kicking up. I know it from experience. I have the mudflats behind the duals and they do nothing for rocks!
I would recommend to anyone to get the full length rock guard. It’s not about bling, it’s about protection! And it protects my Explorer from damage that it got without one!

From my own personal experience, you couldn't pay me enough to put that big flap back on my coach. All stone damage stopped when it was removed. Since it has been sitting next to my garage for the last five years, it hasn't caused any damage.
