Rock Guards

I just finished setting up my Class C to tow a Ford Fiesta and the Fiesta fairly low to the ground. I'm thinking of adding a rock guard, or something similar to the rear of the rear of the RV. I'm looking at the
"Smart Solutions" but I thought I should run it by here first. As always thanks for your help.

Some people like the big rubber mud flap and others including myself, disliked them and took them off. They can actually kick up more stones that will fly into the toad. It did $1,000 worth of paint damage to a custom painted trailer. We had the trailer repainted, removed the flap and no more damage. The best toad protection I have seen is the "Protect-a-Tow" skirt. It worked for my white Avalanche.

Consider a front hood bra......relatively economical.

Thanks. It finally dried enough here so I was able to check out the situation. I found a bit of tail drag on the bottom of the hitch. I think if I had a guard on it would have been ripped off. I think if I do anything it will be a nose bra. Probably just leave it as is and see what happens.

Check out the Tow Car Shield by Coastal Manufacturing at https://rvandoffroad.com. They also advertise on Irv2 and sometimes offer discounts. I have two (one for my Cherokee and one for my Lincoln MKZ). The MKZ was made in 2014 and I just sent it in for free refurbishing (some minor rips and wear) after +30K miles. They make a great product that lasts.

OP,
Here is what I did to stop rocks.
Lengthened the existing wheel flaps so they are now 4" off the road.
I did add a hula skirt across the back, but you may not have the room for this.

Four trips to Florida and no rock chips on the toad.

Mike in Colorado

PS; The front ones keep my stair mechanism a lot cleaner.

I found a lot of damage to my Explorer after it first long distance trip. Purchased a Rock Guard from Future Sales. It eliminated all damage to my vehicle. Money well spent for protecting the toad.

I've got the exact one on my Class C 30.5' Sunseeker 2860DS.
Installed using the angle iron also sold by them. My rv dealer welded it on to the frame and the guard is bolted into the angle iron allowing it to move a little when it contacts the ground. It sits 4" above the ground

Been installed since 2019 and shows no signs of wear except you can see where it has stopped stones on the inside. Toad is a GMC Acadia and no stone chips or damage.

My Sunseeker came with rear mudflaps too.Click image for larger version

I highly recommend the Protect-a-Tow mesh shield between the MH and the toad!

I had a hula skirt type on my Class A and found a ton of gravel and rocks on the cowl and windshield area after each trip. I ended up giving it a hair cut to about 7" from the ground and no more trash on the toad, but still some rocks hitting fog lights and lower valence. Now use a mesh type on the tow bar of the Class C and am 100% satisfied with the protection.

X2 here. Used it on the Alaska Hiway and really prevented a lot of damage
