Rock Hard Bumper Question-Jeep JL

I hate to seemingly beat on a subject that keeps coming up, however, trying to get a complete answer is difficult. I hope the RVers who've used the Rock Hard bumper on their Jeeps will give me some info.

We are towing for the first time ever. Got a 2018 Jeep JL Sport 3 weeks ago.

Decided on a Rock Hard Bumper (received today Fed Ex Freight) and we're looking to install it.

We ordered a RoadMaster Sterling Tow Bar (Still need to Install on the MH).

1. The Tow Bar came with a "Quick Disconnect" System. What the heck do we do with it? Is it an anchor, wall art or does it somehow get installed on the Jeep Rock Hard Bumper and we can't figure it out?

2. Will we have wobble or excessive tire wear and tear as the RoadMaster instructions indicate if we don't install the Quick Disconnect? (The Quick Disconnect is to be put on a RoadMaster BasePlate, so...)

3. Before we ordered I had called RoadMaster and they said it could be installed on a secondary bumper and never talked about the Quick Disconnect. I never knew to ask so I didn't know it came with one.

4. With the Rock Hard Bumper is the only thing necessary to attach the tow bar basically the tow bar? (Does that make sense?) We ordered all the special parts, latches, locks, etc. We have all the parts, I'm just thrown off by the Quick Disconnect.

Can someone with the Rock Hard Bumper give me some advice and/or pictures of your setup?

Thanks much!

Not sure I can help with the combination you have.
When I added the Rock Hard Bumper to the JK. I ordered the bumper and the adapter from Rock Hard for use with a Blue Ox tow bar. The adapters bolted on to the bumper and the tow bar attached directly to the adapters with the pins.

Prior to adding riser to straighten out tow bar.

Looking at Rock Hard Website they list brackets for Roadmaster Tow Bars.
Did you order these from Rock Hard?

Hi Steve,

We ordered the RoadMaster brackets and Recovery Clevis Pins (They are the big silver things).

In the box they also sent a Winch Bracket. I had to look at a few videos to figure out what it was. We're not planning on a winch, at least not yet.

I'm really concerned about the Quick Disconnect thing from RoadMaster.

Are you just able to drive your Jeep up and connect the tow bar to the brackets? (attaching all wires, etc.) You don't have a Quick Disconnect?

BTW, our new bumper looks just like yours...it's just sitting on the garage floor. We're going to try to install it tomorrow. The black big hooks you have towards the center; ours will be silver.

Yes. Tow bar has 2 pins. Plug in lights. Plug in air for brakes. Connect cable for breakaway. Blue Ox tow bar connects differently than many of the Roadmasters. Blue Ox Tow bar stays with coach and not the toad.

Steve, thanks so much for the information! I now believe the Quick Disconnect is for the RoadMaster baseplate only.

Based upon your photos (Thank You!! for those) that is exactly the set up we will have just with the RoadMaster tow bar. The RoadMaster will also remain on the MH when not towing.

We got concerned with the extra, big piece of metal in the box. It seems like such a waste for them to send it if you don't need it. Extra shipping etc.

Really appreciate the quick reply and help!
