Routine Tow Bar Service

I have a Blue Ox Avail tow bar and am wondering if and/or how often should that be routinely serviced and checked over.

Blue Ox recommends service every two years or 10,000 miles.

You can keep it lubricated yourself to maybe extend that interval even longer ...along with proper inspection before and after each use and keeping it covered when not in use.

I've attached the page that outlines maintenance procedures from an Avail owner's manual should you not have it. It's at the bottom of the page.

Some Blue Ox dealers can perform the factory prescribed maintenance.

You can do it yourself (videos are on the internet and you can order the parts from Blue Ox).

You can take it to the Blue Ox factory in Pender NE (they have facilities for staying overnight).

Or you can have them perform the maintenance at one of the rallies that they are scheduled to attend. The ones remaining this year are:

FMCA International Convention at Minot ND next week ...August 14th through the 17th

Pennsylvania Recreation Vehicle & Camping Association RV Show at Hershey PA ...September 11th through the 15th

Newmar International Rally at Syracuse, NY ...September 30th through October 4th

Service Pricing: Tow Bars Aged 1-3 years – $50 Tow Bars Aged 3-5 years – $75 Tow Bars Aged 5-8 years – $125
