RVi3 Command Center issues
I recently purchased a RVi3 Braking system. The actual braking box that fits in my TOAD works like a dream. However the software they provide in the Command Center, which is just a Android small tablet, is complete rubbish. First of all there is no user manual provided either on paper or within the program. I can figure most of it out. But the big issue is that you cannot change the screen from portrait to landscape. Some of their screens appear in portrait and some in landscape. The portrait screens are upside down to the tablet. Being a Android tablet you can connect to any wife network and use the provided browser, RVi don’t tell you that. In fact you can connect via your phones hotspot if you wish.
I would recommended the brake as being five stars, but the command center I would give one star!

RVI3
I to recently purchased a RVi3 Braking system haven't had a chance to test it with my MH yet. Did test in SUV a lot better than the BB I had for years. There was a software up date that came out in 2018 I haven't down loaded it yet. Don't know if that will help.

You should take your complaints up with RVi. They are a pretty responsive company. Of course, I question why you think a control unit should also double as a standard tablet. It is programed to be a control unit and it does that pretty well.

I don’t question why it should double as a standard tablet since it already does. Actually it functions perfectly as a tablet.
I have used the software update function in the RVi software and it says the software is up to date.
My comments are to simply inform anyone else that is thinking of purchasing this system thinking that the command center is a great deal when it is not. These bugs should have been fixed when it was in Alpha testing.

In the settings you can change the orientation of the screen.

What other programs are you using. I just have the braking driving mode screen up when I drive and it goes into landscape by itself.

Yes, you have identified one of the issues, it starts in portrait mode, which is actually inverted to the android system and then rotates to landscape mode needing the user to rotate the screen. If you then want to switch to another of their three programs you have it goes to portrait mode again so unless you are pretty good at reading sideways is a pain in the backside and should have been corrected long before the system was ever sold.

Stock, but the tablet works fine for browsing etc in android mode.
Since it’s mounted on my dash I would like the camera to record video whilst I’m driving. There is no reason why it shouldn’t

The RVI software needs to be active in order to monitor the TPMS and brake. Unless Android is a true multitasking OS the camera idea will not work.
The command center tablet is part of a safety system. RVI needs to control what is loaded on the tablet. If a user loads an app that that, for example, ends up causing the RVI software to miss a critical event (breakaway switch activation or tire problem) there can be severe consequences. As a user, I understand the desire to load additional software, but my professional experience tells me that the tablet should be locked down to prevent any user customization.
I think RVI could add a function to monitor an OBDII scanner to their software. That device could be added to the existing polling.

Frankly you are writing a load of nonsense, the brakes away switch has nothing to do with the tablet.
But just using the tablet as a “command center” is buggy Do you read about orientation? Can you read sideways? Is it acceptable to have to keep physically rotating the tablet?

It’s NOT a load of nonsense. If the breakaway switch is activated a notification will display in the tablet - you will also be notified if the brake stops communicating (this could be due to a loss of power to the brake among other things). If I see a brake lost communication warning without a command center lost communication warning I would want to make sure the brake was powered.
I am fully familiar with the issues of orientation and would prefer to have all functions operate in landscape or portrait mode. Enabling auto-rotate was a problem with older versions of the software - on a rough road the accelerometer would interpret a rough ride as a change of orientation and do some interesting things to the display.
