RVI3 vs Air Force One
Unless I missed it, there hasn’t been a recent dialogue about comparing RVI3 vs Air Force One. I currently have AF1 installed in my current road which I am selling. I had anticipated installing the second car AF1 system in my new toad, but it’s a days labor to install. I like the simple plug and play, however, the RVI3 seems to be very simple as well, although I have no experience. Prices are very similar for the unit but the AF1 is going to either cost me a day of my time or I’ll pay someone for their time.
I do like the fact that the RVI3 is portable and can go from toad to toad.
I am installing on a 2006 Lexus LX470.
Would love to hear any feedback!!!
Thx and I love IRV2!

AF1 is so simple and reliable, once its in you just use it. I am glad we have it every time I hook up the toad.

Those are an apples and oranges comparison as they are not similar at all.
I have the RVi3 and love the simplicity and portability of the unit. It has a whole lot less installation process since you don't have to cut into the motor home braking system. It took me about an hour and half to install a dedicated line from the battery to the passenger compartment and connect the break away wiring for the RVi3. Setting it up in the vehicle takes 2-3 minutes as does removal. I couldn't be happier with the system.
I'm sure I'd be happy with the AF1 if I'd installed it, they are just different products.

I am using the RVI3 as well. Once the towed vehicle is setup, installation takes less then a minute when the system is used. I tend to take the approach that minimizes modifications to the towed vehicle and the RVI3 fits that bill nicely.

I just bought the RVI3. I looked at it from an install uninstall viewpoint. It wasn’t worth going the AF1 again.

I do not have any input regarding the AF1 but I can say the RVI3 is VERY easy to install and more so to use. At each use, it's just a matter of placing it in the floor, slipping the brake actuator over the pedal, plug in the power and breakaway cords, then pressing a button three times....simple! It literally takes me about 2 minutes to hook it up and less than a minute to unhook, which includes taking it out of the trunk and putting it back in the trunk. I also bought their Tire Patrol TPMS and their customer service is EXCELLENT. You won't go wrong with the RVI3!

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up buying the full RVI3 system, tpms and all. I seem to change vehicles more than I change the air filters in my house.

My dad used to say "The ashtray's full, time to get a new truck", but the new ones don't have ash trays.

What all did you get with RVI3? I am new to this. myself and have 08 Camelot and 06 LX470. If you can list the exact parts you ordered that would be amazing
Already got the Road Master setup for the LX like baseplates

This is the setup I used. Very easy to set up. I found using the lowest brake/power setting worked the best for the LX.

This is a no brainer. I like this unit rather than installing a simple wire. Let’s me know its connected and charging.

You will need to hardwire this or something similar directly to the battery and hang it or tie it up under the drivers pedal area. You will plug the rvi brake device into this. You need constant power and unless you do the mad to make the 12v on the dash hot all the time.
That’s pretty much it. I changed out the turn signal lights in the back to red LEDs. You will need to install resistors to the taillight/brake light wires in the LX to prevent the LEDs from hyper flashing. Wired this way, they still function as turn signals when I’m driving and function as brake lights when I’m towing. I also wired the LX’s running lights both front and back along w the license plate to come on at night or when I have the coach lights on.

A standard blue ox wiring kit. I think I used the one that comes with the bulbs but ended up not using them.
