Setting up my 2014 Fusion Hybrid!

Need to toot my own horn once in a while!

Blue Ox baseplate...installed. Hardest part of the job is removing/reinstalling front fascia.

Breakaway switch for Patriot II braking system...installed.

Question....

My six pin connector on MH has a pin dedicated for backup lights, not a +12V hot pin. My plan is to disconnect pin and reinstall a 12 gauge wire with 15A inline fuse from chassis batt for TOAD charge line. Since 6 pin connector is already grounded, do i need to run a separate line from chassis batt neg terminal to six pin connector? My going in position is no.

Would then use umbilical to power toad, assuming voltage is good, with RVi Toad Charger.

Thx for your time!

I doesn't sound like a good plan. The backup pin and the round pin are going to have to carry 15A safely. The coach ground harness wire is going to have to carry 15A. I would be surprised if they are designed for that.

My expectation, especially if you want a 15A circuit is that you will want to have a dedicated connector with a dedicated power and ground and that you be sure to keep any of the current from what it powers out of the lighting connector.

I have used a charg line since 2010 or before, I use the center pin on my 6 pin and it has done the job for me but you will have to be careful As some of the 6 wire toad to RV cables have #14 wires only, years ago the only one I could find with a #12 wire (and one only ) was made by Roadmaster
Be sure to ground the toad you can attach the ground to the coach chassis in the rear and to the toad chassis in front you just need a good ground.
